Chris joins the basketball team...because he's Black

Stereotypes are scattered throughout this entire clip. Chris enrolls in a new school which appears to be predominantly White. Student teacher interaction plays from 1:30 to 3:17. The P.E. teacher of the school see's Chris throw a crumbled paper into a garbage can as if it were a basketball and immediately assumes that Chris can play the sport (primarily on the basis that he is Black). The beauty of this particular scene is that these stereotypes are discussed and played out in Chris' thoughts. The clip takes on a comedic stance and stereotypes are undoubtedly exaggerated, but it demonstrates that teachers have their own views and opinions and that these can sometimes affect the way students are perceived.
